:: 28.07.2009 Our newcomer Magda has arrived!
Last winter, spring and beginning of summer 2009 were hard and full of sorrow in our family. In the beginning of summer after lost two flatcoats in three months I thought that maybe it would be time to have a new puppy in the house to bring joy and happiness into our family and lives again. In june I was surfing in the internet to get my mind of all the sorrow and found my way to Kennel Whizzbang´s homepage in Denmark, and there she was Pretty Woman, beautiful female puppy of 4 months. I visited their page every day for two weeks and looked at the photo of the beautiful puppy. Then I decided to contact Dorte Jensen and ask about Pretty Woman. We started to be in contact with Dorte and after lots of e-mails, sms and arrangements we decided that Pretty Woman would move to Finland!
Weekend 18th-19th of july I flew to Denmark to collect Pretty Woman and everything went smoothly allthough she had to travel by airplane in a flyingbox. She has a lovely temperament, happy, laidback and full of energy. Now "Magda" is here and she is simply a dream come true and already after few days has brought so much joy into our lives! Ada and Selma have welcomed little Magda into our family with happiness, they both just love her. Thank you Dorte and Kim for this opportunity of having her!

:: 16.06.2009 Sad news. In our Loving Memory Flareway Special Delight "Liisa".
With heavy hearts and tears in my eyes I write this. Yesterday on a rainy summer morning I had to say goodbye to our Old Lady Liisa. Liisa had been suffering from old age artrosis in her right elbow since last summer, we had tried several painkillers and injections to her pain, but they didn´t help her.
Last autumn Liisa started to eat cortisone and that helped her, but the doze became bigger and bigger to give her help for the pain. The cortisone also hade several sideaffects that made Liisa feel uncomfortable.
Since March I have been preparing myself for the departure with my dear Liisa. The spring was very difficult for us after just lost little Maisa and at the same time I knew I had to let Liisa go to heaven soon because despite the medication she had pains in her elbow and it was difficult for her to move.
At the end of May I could see that Liisa wasn´t enjoying life anymore and the spark in her eyes started to fade away. Her eyes were restless and she was in pain almost all the time, she had difficulties to sleap and didn´t find a comfortable position to lie down, it was also difficult for her to get up from the slippery floor.
I knew I had to let Liisa go to sleap forever before the pains were too much to take, I owed it to her, she had been the dearest friend for over nine years and I didn´t want to see her suffering anymore.
Last week her condition dropped dramaticly, Liisa was so tired, lost a lot of weight and her apetite was fading away, her stomach became very swallen. I could see it in her eyes that it was time.
Yesterday morning we went to the vet for the last time. Liisa was so peaceful and I know she knew that soon all the pains would go away and she would get peace. We took two exrays of her, one from the elbow and one from her abdomen. The artrosis in her elbow had taken over the whole joint and there wasn´t much normal bone left, the abdomen exray showed that Liisa had a large tumour in her splean. It was time to let her go to heaven and be free of all the pains and suffering. Liisa was gently helped to sleap forever with the help of a vet, I was right there beside her when she peacefully past away.
We are all so sad here at home and miss the Old Lady so very much, but in my heart I know that now Liisa has it well over there in the heaven with her family without anymore pains. I will always cherish dear grandmum Liisa in my heart and her spirit will go on living in her lovely children and grandchildren.
Sleap in peace dear Liisa, angels will guard your sleap.

:: 10.03.2009 SAD NEWS. In our Loving Memory Flareway She´s The One " Maisa ".
With heavy hearts and tears in my eyes I write this, on wintry March day I had to let Maisa go to sleep forever.
Maisa had two severe trauma accidents to her bones and nerves in four months. At the end of November last year she broke her right hip in a play accident and was at rest and on a leage for 6 weeks. It was hard for a young flatcoat girl, but we managed and her hip healed, everything looked fine at the middle of January. Maisa was allowed to run free again after an controlexray that showed her hips looked healthy.
Two days after that Maisa was running in the forest together with mum Ada and had a bad accident, she hit a big tree while running. She was in severe pain for about ten minutes and keeping her left backleg looking like paralized. After a while she could use the leg again and I thought she would be fine with some rest and painkiller.
Few days after the second accident Maisa was still lame daily despite the rest and painkiller, so I took her to the vet. They exrayd her and examined her knees but everything was ok with that department. The vet suggested more painkillers and fysiotherapy and thought that Maisa had a mild blow to a nerve in her leg and back. She should recover in about two weeks time.
We started fysiotherapy and at first it looked liked it helped a bit and Maisa was slowly improving, she was without symptoms less then two weeks. Then her situation got worse. Two weeks ago Maisa´s left backleg started to give paralized symptoms again and she was obviously in pain while moving despite the painmedication. Also lately the fysiotherapy (with microwarmtherapy) made her symptoms worse. Symptoms came daily, sometimes several times and they were more painful. It also took her more time to recover from them and to be able to use the leg after them. I started to get really worried about her, the painkiller should work well on bone/ muscle pain but it doesn´t work on nerve related pains. Maisa started to limb all the time and it was painful for her to move.
Maisa was very tired and in the mornings I had to call her to come to eat, she would have liked to sleap and rest. Bit by bit the joy in her eyes started to fade away and I could see that she had pains in her backside, it was so obvious. It was heartbraking to watch her and see that moving was painful and difficult, it had been like that for almost four months of her shirt life. Last weekend Maisa started to have numness in her backtoes, the left one didn´t react to a pinch and the right one had an mild reaction. It started to look that the blow to her nerves wasn´t a mild one, her nerves had been damaged at the accident when she hit the tree and Maisa´s was getting worse.
Then I knew I had to make a hard decision I had been thinking for the last two weeks Maisa had become worse. It was the kindest thing for her to let her go to a place in heaven where she could run free without any pains and difficulties and her legs would work normally. Tuesday evening the 10th of March Maisa was put to sleep forever with the help of a vet. She peacefully went to sleep in my arms lieing in her own blanket.
This decision I had to make for Maisa was the hardest I have ever had to make regarding my flatcoats I have owned for 24 years, but in my heart I know it was the right one, now Maisa has peace and all her pains are away. Me and the girls are all very sad and heartbroken and we miss little Maisa so very much, but you have to decide what is best for your friend and sometimes make these hard, heartbraking decisions.
Maisa is an little angel now and greatgrandmum Sandra is meeting her over there at the rainbowbridge, she will take good care of little Maisa. I will always cherish Maisa in my heart, she was a little sunshine. Sleap in peace little Maisa, angels will cuard your sleep.

Today 7 out of 9 Ada/Porsche puppies came to Espoo for a puppydate: Liisa and Sakari with Åsa and aunt Sohvi, Merja with Dina, Riikka with Marwin and Marwin´s friend rotweiler Pinkki, Outi with Tarmo, Marko and Kati with Rico and Taisa and Jaana with Leo and me with Maisa. We took a nice walk at the forest and the puppies played for a while, they had so much fun together! When they had lost most of the energy, we took them one at the time and let them carry and fetch a rabbit and a crow. All the puppies were very keen on the rabbit and the crow and carried it without a problem eagerly. I was very impressed with their reactions to the game, everybody was so interested of both the rabbit and the crow! This promisies good for the future! Riikka took lovely photos of each puppy and the whole croup, the photos will come to the gallery of new photos soon! Thank you for the photographing Riikka! We had a nice coffeebreak at the forest and then walked back to the cars and took some standing photos of some puppies. I showed some trimming tips for the owners of the puppies and then it was time to start the trip home for everybody, puppies were tired after an active, lovely afternoon together. My own Maisa is sleeping peacefully at my feet, she had so much fun today with all the brothers and sisters! Thank you all for coming and for the nice afternoon together, it was lovely to see all of you and to see that every puppy is on the right track of becoming a nice young flatcoat. Hope to see all of you soon again!

Me and mum Ada feel tired and happy, all the puppies now are settling in to their new active, loving homes. Here at home we still have one puppy, our own Maisa, she is going to stay! She is a lovely, promising puppy with an always wagging tail and happy temperament, looking forward now to get to know her better.

It is starting to be empty in the house now. Most of the puppies in Ada/Porsche litter have moved to their new homes. Two malepuppies are still here , the other one is available and the other one will move to his new home in about two weeks and my own femalepuppy Maisa is staying with us! Time is flying when you have a big litter at home. 7 weeks with the puppies have gone so fast and now it is time for the little ones to move to their new homes. Ada´s puppies have developed in to lovely little flatcoats that are interested in everything new and being social to everyone new they meet. Today Anu was here and took lovely photos of the one-litter and soon their own litter page will be updated. Jaana and Riikka were here too, thank you all for your help and thank you Anu for the photografing. Riikka and Sara had a reason to come today, at the same visit they picked up little Marwin, the liver male, who is going to be living with them in Nokia. Riikka and me are co-owning marwin who is a lovely, promising, outgoing malepuppy. It will be so interesting to follow his development in the future. :: 1.6.08 Ada´s puppies two weeks old. Peace and harmony here. Ada had her stichies removed on friday and has recovered well from the operation. She has been coming with us to our walks for a week now and is enjoying little time away from the puppies. But after the walk she hurries back to the puppybox to count the babies and feed them. Ada just loves her children and is an exellent, loving and patient mum to them.
Puppies are growing every day and their eyes have started to open, they also have started to really move around the box, it still looks a bit glumsy but they are improving day by day. Tomorrow they will have theír first worm medicine, let´s see how the puppies feel about that. Next week I will make a bigger space to them to exercise their walk and moving.

Puppies have gained weight well and are growing every day. They have started to really move around the puppybox and everyone is strong and active. Time just flies by just looking at them.

Everything is fine here, Ada is recovering well from the operation and her babies are doing fine too. She is producing milk well regarding that she was operated and such a good and devoted mum to her babies. She knew right away when she was waking up from the anesthesia what to do. We are tired and reliefed that everything went well at the end.
:: 18.5.08 Ada´s puppies are born! 9 strong, healthy puppies are born 18.5.08. Mother and her babies are doing fine and Ada is a devoted mother to her babies. What is a bit interesting is that only one liver puppy was born, a male, then there are 3 black females and 5 black males. The genes work in a mysterious ways you could say. The most important thing is that both mum and her babies are doing fine. Puppyplans page will be updated soon, till then some photos in the new photos gallery of Ada and her puppies.

Flareway Special Delight "Liisa" had her first progeny class in this show and it included Ch F. Hot Mocha, F. Dreams N´Wishes, F. Hot N´Spicy and F. Wish Me Luck. Liisa´s progeny class was placed 2nd with Honourprize and exellent kritik! I am so proud of her beautiful children and it was a joy again to have her at the show with us, Liisa had so much fun in the ring! Next spring Liisa will be a veteran when she fills 8 years and can be entered at the veteran class, looking forward to that!

:: 5.8.07 Juniormeeting for Wish- litter. Four girls of the Wish- litter were at our meeting today: Selma, Trudi, Mango and Tara. We took a nice walk at the forest and trained a little too. First we went to a bond and girls took a nice dip in the water and we also took some retrieving with a dummy from the water. All did very well, Tara was a bit hesitating, but it will come with more experience.
We continued our walk and girls had great fun running together in the forest. I had a crow and a seagul with me in my backbag and after a while we did some training with the birds for all the girls. Selma, Trudi and Mango were very eager to fetch the birds, Tara was hesitating, but she hasn´t seen the birds since she was a puppy, that will come with Tara. After the birds girls took another nice swim at a bond to refresh themselves, then we walked back to the car. Before going back home we still had a bunny to let the girls carry. Tara, Selma, Mango and Trudi were all so interested of the bunny and carried it proudly!
It was a lovely afternoon, thank you all who were at the place and let´s see soon again!

:: 2.6.07 Summer job at a veterinary clinic. Today me and the girls have moved to Espoo for the summer. I will start my summer job for 10 weeks at a private vet clinic on monday the 4th of June. It will be so interesting to learn and work at the same time to become a veterinary nurse.
Our summer includes also shows and training and fieldtrialtests for Liisa and Ada. Selma will be 9 months on the 19th of June and she can go to the big girls class on the shows. Looking forward to an interesting summer!
My mother and Elsa have moved to our countryplace at Siilinjärvi for the summer, while I am living at Espoo, very good arrangement for both of us and the girls too.
:: 28.5.07 Selma´s rabies antibodies. Today when I came home to Siilinjärvi after a long weekend at Espoo we had good news in a letter at our mailbox. The letter from Evira regarding Selma´s rabies antibodies had arrived. Good news: Selma has an acceptable rabies antibody level so she is ready to go to Sweden from that point of view!

:: 28.1.07 Puppymeeting for Wish- litter. Today we had a meeting for Wish-litter at Espoo. Six puppies out of seven were at place, Arni, Milo, Mango, Tara, Sanni and Selma. It was so nice to meet almost the whole litter and to see that they are all lovely puppies and doing great with their owners. Puppies had great fun together mingling and playing in the snow. Puppies looked so similar and even that I almost couldn´t believe my eyes, at first it was difficult to make a difference who was who. Thank you everybody for a nice meeting and Tea a special thanks for a nice coffeebreak afterwards.
